"Get What You Get" Tattoos at Idle Hands/Lower Haight Art Walk

[vimeo http://www.vimeo.com/22112972 w=600&h=375]

Get what you can get from Corduroy Films on Vimeo.

This Saturday, Idle Hands in SF will be hosting a "Get What You Get" event. $60 gets you a random tattoo out of the gumball machine. There's going to be a show on top of the building while artists work down below. Tattoos, music.. YUP.

This will be all going down during the Lower Haight Art Walk. It's going on from 12-6pm. On top of that, RVCA's having a show from 7-10 in Upper Haight. The only thing left, and most important, is FREE BEER. Get on it.

Failed Bike Thief

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-zJQzi7dMg&rel=0&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3]

Remember this video? If you don't, it's of a bicycle thief who fails to steal a bicycle from a rack after a woman runs over and knocks him off. Turns out, she's from WCG up here in SF. And while she and crew didn't continue pursuing the thief, it was probably the better idea because later, he pulled a knife on security guards. The best part? He ill locked his other bike before attempting to steal the other and in the debacle, dropped his lock key. Security found it and confiscated his whip. Dope.

Cykelrum

Every Swedish apt. building has the Cykelrum. Basically bike storage for the building in the basement.
It's the whole basement floor, hundreds of bikes piled in these rooms. It was crazy and wish I had more
photos of the madness. Nothing really to crazy in the realm of what the bikes were. They were all pretty
interchangeable. Cruisers, Mix-ties, old world war era bikes, Mt. bikes., not too many road bikes or
Track bikes were seen on this trip.

The funniest thing about the Swedes, is how the care for their bikes.
They don't. The bike breaks, and they just get another one, don't think of getting
repairs done or learning themselves. It's not like they are highend bikes. The bikes
are like Wal-mart bikes or bikes handed down through the years and family member
to family member. However, they all ride and day everyday. The cities are based on the bicycle.
It was pretty cool to see that. A country where the bike is king, and you
ain't special cause you ride one. Everyone does.

Cykeloket!

So I'm gonna start jumping into this trip recap. I'm start off with the one of
the coolest things that happened. My cousin's, my Sister, Ben and I were doing a tour of
their hometown of Malmo by bikes (more on swedes and their bikes later), when I really needed
to adjust my saddle height. We were by a skatepark and I saw a workstand set up and folks
working on their bike. I asked to use their tools and Ben and kelly chatted the guy who was
running the spot. It turns out, it was called "Cykeloket" Swedish for "Bicycle Kitchen"!
The guy tells us a story and show us news clippings about how the place got started.
It was inspired by the LA Bicycle Kitchen! Ben speaks up at this point and says, "I'm one
of founders of that bike kitchen on LA" The guy was floored and it really shows what a small
world we live in. LA bike culture inspiring Swedish riders.

Pretty fucking cool.

Outlier: The Anorak

After being in Sweden and falling in love with riding fashion over there, this is

exactly what I wanted to see for fall. Outlier never ceases to impress.

Details from Outlier:

We never rush development at Outlier, some garments fall together quickly while others take forever. This garment has been in the making for nearly as long as we've been around so we're pretty excited to finally have it in our hands. The Anorak started as a simple pullover windbreaker, and took an evolutionary leap when we started experimenting with a magnetic adjustable front piece.

The Anorak uses a pullover construction with two way zippered side vents for superior ventilation. The adjustable magnetic front piece lets you protect your neck in style. An articulated sleeve construction (a modified version of our pivot sleeve) allows for a full range of movement. A double sided kangaroo front pocket, rear zippered carry pocket and Lampo partial-front zip complete the picture.

The 3XDry Cotton Linen fabric has a sturdy hand feel that combines the soft touch of cotton with the crisp handle of linen. The 3XDry treatment moves moisture away from the body on the inside and repels water on the outside while always drying swiftly for optimal comfort.

This is an Outlier Experimental Edition. A limited edition release of a product we hope to produce in full in the future.

Speaking of Thieves...

Last weekend someone broke into the Encino Velodrome and stole a bunch of items,
including donated prizes for the weekly race series going on Wednesday's. Pretty shitty.

Read all about at Ride the Black Line.
