Years ago I had the fortunate experience of living and studying in Amsterdam for 6 months. As you may well have heard, they fancy the bicycle quite a bit out there and have found many uses for it. I saw four person families on one bicycle with the kids sleeping, women riding in dresses and high-heels, homeless selling €5 bikes on junkie bridge (near the Law School, which happened to be in the Red Light district, coincidence?, no), and an entire bicycle rack with bikes locked on it stolen by a bunch of dudes in a pick up truck. I'm telling you shit is real out there in it's own way.
Soon you will be able to have a little part of that in your own neck of the woods. Flying Pigeon, owned by Josef, the founder of the Bike Oven and one of the most intelligent and well spoken people I have ever met in my life, will be getting a whole bunch of Nihola Cigar Family Bakfiets in 8 to 10 weeks. They look like this,
Snap, you can fit two little kids in there! Yo Jo, please get a camo top for meh. Cool postcards too,
Obvi we'll post again when the day finally comes. Lemme get wan! In the mean time, if you want to read some intelligent facts and opinions about LA's bicycle advocacy scene, check Josef's blog, Brayj Against the Machine.
